PREP FOOTBALL : Nemeth Leads El Toro Past San Clemente

Running back David Nemeth scored 3 touchdowns to lead El Toro High School to a 33-13 victory over San Clemente Friday in a South Coast League game at San Clemente.
Nemeth also added a 42-yard field goal and kicked 4 extra points for the Chargers (5-3 overall and 2-1 in league play). San Clemente is 1-7, 0-3.
El Toro took the lead on its first possession with a 65-yard scoring drive. Nemeth scored on a 5-yard run and kicked the extra point to put El Toro ahead, 7-0.
Nemeth added a 1-yard run and a 42-yard field goal in the second quarter as El Toro led, 17-0, at the half.
Sean Drinkwater, El Toro’s leading receiver this season, suffered a leg injury during the second quarter and did not return. He had 47 yards in receptions before the injury.
The extent of the injury was not known after the game. El Toro Coach Bob Johnson said that Drinkwater would have X-rays today.
El Toro scored 2 touchdowns in the third quarter, the first on a 7-yard run by Tad Weedman. Nemeth scored his third touchdown on a 19-yard pass from reserve quarterback Rob Johnson.
San Clemente scored 2 touchdowns in the final quarter. Tailback Marc Bohn scored on an 11-yard run. Brian Highland’s extra-point kick made the score, 33-7. San Clemente’s final touchdown came on a 1-yard run by quarterback Eric Kovanda.
