Connie Chung Report

Permit me to set the record straight: Connie Chung refused to do a one-on-one interview with me after learning it was for Asiam magazine (“Magazines: Has Connie Chung Distanced Herself From Asian Heritage?” by Garry Abrams, Oct.27).
However, I interviewed Connie Chung. I was among the press corps during her meeting with the out-of-town journalists at the Registry Hotel on Saturday, Aug. 6, for just under an hour. I then interviewed her for 15 or 20 minutes with Helen Dorsey and two out-of-town journalists.
I never informed Chung I was representing another publication. True, the name tag NBC issued me says New York Times Syndicate, because they buy second rights to almost everything I write, and in fact have the Chung piece right now, for possible reselling to newspapers here and abroad.
