PREP FOOTBALL : Sea View League : University Wins, but Season Is Over
- Share via
Despite mustering only 47 yards of total offense in the first half, University High School rolled to a 32-17 victory over Tustin Friday night at Irvine High.
Even with the victory, the Trojans (4-5-1) failed to make the playoffs.
University’s 2-2-1 mark in the Sea View League was good enough for a three-way tie with Saddleback and Estancia for second place, but losses to both those schools in the two preceding weeks locked the Trojans out a Division VI playoff berth.
Tailback Jim Roberson led the way for University with a big second half. Roberson scored on touchdown runs of 1 and 17 yards, and finished with 132 yards in 20 carries.
University also got a 25-yard touchdown run from Victor Davis and scored on a 44-yard bootleg by quarterback Junior Oliver.
The Tillers finished 3-6-1 overall and 1-3-1 in league play.
