Chinese authorities arrested 20 monks entrapped by a questionnaire asking if Chinese officials should be removed from Tibet, according to the office of the Dalai Lama in New Delhi. In a letter to Chinese authorities, the office of Tibet’s exiled spiritual and temporal leader said: “We wish to express our deep concern at what appears to be a new form of intimidation which has been introduced in Tibet.” The monks were arrested earlier this month “after they had the courage to state their true feelings” in the questionnaire, according to the letter, which a Chinese diplomat said has been forwarded to Beijing.
