Home Sales Rise 21% in San Diego

Home sales in San Diego County rose 21% in the first nine months of this year from the same period a year earlier, according to a report by Chicago Title Co.
The firm said 49,071 new and existing homes were sold from January through September, compared to 40,506 in the first nine months of 1987.
Part of the increase stemmed from home buyers’ concerns that pending slow-growth measures would restrict supply and send prices soaring, said Denis Rotler, a Chicago Title vice president. However, all those measures were defeated earlier this month.
