Zayre Corp. posted a net loss of $160.8 million in the third quarter from the disposal of its Zayre stores division. Income from continuing operations was $27.9 million, an increase of 28.1%, the Framingham, Mass., company said. Sales from continuing operations rose 24.5% to $936.3 million. Zayre is a diversified retailer whose operations include T. J. Maxx and Hit or Miss off-price apparel specialty stores, BJ’s and HomeClub membership warehouse clubs and the Chadwick’s of Boston off-price mail order catalogue.
