Difficult Week for CS Long Beach Women

Cal State Long Beach women’s basketball team begins its toughest week of the season as it plays host to Maryland tonight at 6 in the University Gym. After playing the ninth-ranked Terrapins, the eighth-ranked 49ers play Western Kentucky (No. 18) Thursday night and Texas (No. 13) Saturday night.
Long Beach (6-2) is coming off a come-from-behind victory over Washington. The team is led by guards Penny Toler, who is averaging 17 points a game, and Traci Waites, who averages 16.
Maryland (5-1) hasn’t played since Dec. 13. The team is averaging 84 points a game, and allows 64. Maryland is led by Vicki Bullett, a 6-foot 3-inch senior forward. Bullett, a 1988 Olympian, is averaging 20 points.
