A Lakeside man died Tuesday when his pickup truck overturned on the Coronado Bridge, the California Highway Patrol reported.
Richard Robert Lovato, 43, was eastbound on the bridge at 11 a.m. when his pickup swerved to the right, struck the wall and overturned, a CHP spokesman said. Lovato was taken to UC San Diego Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 11:53 a.m.
CHP investigators believe Lovato, a civilian quality assurance specialist at the North Island Naval Air Station, may have suffered a heart attack. An autopsy is scheduled for today.
No other cars were involved in the accident, and no one else was injured, according to the CHP.
