THE PREPS : Roundup : Jalewalia Scores 52 to Break Her Record

Amy Jalewalia scored 52 points, breaking her school record, to lead La Quinta High School to a 85-12 victory over Pacifica in a Garden Grove League girls’ basketball game Friday at Pacifica.

Jalewalia, a junior forward, scored 48 points against El Modena in December. She also had 12 rebounds Friday.

Carrie Egan of Brea-Olinda set the Orange County single-game girls’ record with 56 points in 1987.

Tanya Krill had 16 points and 7 rebounds and Heather Brannan had 8 points and 10 rebounds for the Aztecs (14-3, 7-0).

Connelly 51, St. Mathias 42--Ranelle Kitajina scored 16 points to lead Connelly (5-1, 9-3) at St. Mathias.

In the Century League boys’ soccer:

Canyon 1, Foothill 1--Steve Hope scored 8 minutes into the match for host Canyon (12-2-3, 2-0-2). Eric Fukuda scored 9 minutes into the second half for Foothill.

Santa Ana 3, Villa Park 0--Auviencio, Gustavo Santoyo and Gus Plasencia scored for Santa Ana (14-1-3, 4-0) at Santa Ana Stadium.

El Modena 2, Santa Ana Valley 1--Ronnie Murrietta and Marc Gonzales scored for host El Modena (5-5-2, 1-3). Manop Phinouwong scored for Santa Ana Valley.

In the Freeway League:

La Habra 4, Buena Park 0--Ethan Saldana, David Karaba, Jose Mendoza and Eduardo Carabel scored to lead La Habra (7-5-2, 2-1-2) at Buena Park.

In the Garden Grove League:

Kennedy 2, Rancho Alamitos 0--Diego Abbes scored twice to lead host Kennedy (6-4-3, 4-1-1).

In the Pacific Coast League:

Laguna Hills 1, Trabuco Hills 1--Lars Slemming scored with 28 minutes remaining in the first half for Trabuco Hills (4-2-2). Brian Slayback tied the score for Laguna Hills (4-2-3) a minute into the second half.

Orange 3, Costa Mesa 2--Omar Vasquez, Ed Gallagos and Eric McKay scored goals for Orange (6-8-3, 4-4-1) at Costa Mesa.

Woodbridge 3, Laguna Beach 0--John Szczuka scored 2 goals for host Woodbridge.
