Richard V. Nunes has been named president and chief operating officer of Unicare Insurance Co., succeeding E.T. Banning, who becomes vice chairman. Both men will report to the office of the chairman of the parent company, Unicare Financial Corp. Nunes had previously been executive officer responsible for national accounts, workers’ compensation and agency relationships for John A. Neu Insurance Services. From 1977 to 1986, he held positions with Western Employers Insurance Co., including executive vice president and chief operating officer. Unicare Financial Corp. is a holding company for Irvine-based Unicare Insurance Co., which writes California workers’ compensation insurance.
