Miramar-Based Jet Crashes, Killing 2

ELOY, Ariz. — A Navy F-14 jet based at Miramar Naval Air Station crashed Friday in a cotton field near here, killing the two people aboard.
The identities of the pilot and the radar-intercept officer were withheld pending notification of relatives.
Petty Officer Barbara Vega, a Navy spokeswoman in San Diego, said the cause of the crash was under investigation. The plane, which was on a training flight, was assigned to squadron VF-114 at Miramar, she said.
