As a transplanted Mississippian I must question Charles Tisdale’s opinion that things are “20 times worse today” for blacks in Mississippi (Outtakes, Jan. 15).
In 1964 a black could not have attended a movie with a white in that state. A black could not have been elected to public office. Now, many segments of Mississippi society are more integrated than Southern California.
