Van Dell & Associates recently announced that the firm had won a design award for its work on the refurbishing of John Wayne Airport.
Van Dell said it won the Project of the Year award from the California Council of Civil Engineers and Land Surveyors for designing the streets at the airport.
The Irvine civil engineering firm is the “V” in HPV, a consortium of three engineering firms supervising work at the airport.
HPV was involved in a highly publicized flap last fall involving a $20-million cost overrun on the design of the new terminal. As overseers of the project, HPV is ultimately responsible for the overruns.
