Hearing Set for Canyons Players Over Scuffle With Police

Five members of the College of the Canyons men’s basketball team who were arrested Jan. 22 after a scuffle with five off-duty sheriff’s deputies outside a Santa Clarita Valley restaurant have been ordered to appear in court April 12 for a pretrial hearing.
The players, all of whom completed the season with the team, pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor charges Wednesday at an arraignment in Newhall Municipal Court.
Deon Myricks, 19, of Northridge and Aaron Clark, 21, of Canyon Country pleaded not guilty to charges of battery on a police officer and interfering with a police officer.
Loren Cash, 19, of Valencia and Michael Collins, 19, of Los Angeles pleaded not guilty to charges of disturbing the peace and interfering with a police officer.
Kevin Price, 19, of Valencia pleaded not guilty to one count of disturbing the peace.
