A Crest man accused of bludgeoning his mother to death and burying her near her mobile home was ordered Friday to stand trial by Municipal Court Judge Robert J. Stahl Jr.
Ashley Victor Demers, 26, will be arraigned in Superior Court March 24 on a charge of murder in the death of Anna Adele Demers, 67, who was found by sheriff’s deputies Jan. 2, about two months after she was killed by multiple blows to the head. A trial date will be set when he is arraigned.
Anna Demers retired one year ago from Valley Medical Supply, where she worked as a supply clerk. Ashley Demers lived with his mother at 2009 Old Bend Road, about 3 miles east of El Cajon.
Sheriff’s deputies forced their way into Demers’ mobile home after a neighbor called authorities because he had not seen the elder Demers for about eight weeks, and he had recovered an uncashed check made out to her.
The neighbor, Michael Carver, said he was also concerned because Demers’ station wagon had not been moved in weeks.
After entering the home, the deputies found Ashley Demers, who later led the deputies to his mother’s burial site.
