High School Roundup : Unter Pitches 6-Inning No-Hitter

L. A. Baptist High right-hander Dave Unter pitched a no-hitter in a 5 1/2-inning, 18-2 victory over Flintridge Prep in a nonleague game Wednesday at L. A. Baptist.
Unter (2-0), a senior, struck out nine and walked seven, including four in Flintridge Prep’s two-run third inning. L. A. Baptist committed two errors in the inning.
The Knights (4-0) pounded out 16 hits, including home runs by Shane Wight, Dave Garcia and Colyn Van Buren.
In other baseball games:
Buena 16, Westlake 3--Buena (4-2-1) battered four Westlake pitchers for 16 hits in a nonleague game at Buena. Tim Falsken was two for three for Westlake (3-3).
Buckley 10, Huntington Park 6--Grant Chang was three for four with two runs batted in and Matt Ochacher was two for three for Buckley in a nonleague game.
SOFTBALL
Montclair Prep 17, Oakwood 4--Tamara Silvera was four for four with three doubles for Montclair Prep (4-0) in a nonleague game.
L.A. Lutheran 11, Windward 10--L. A. Lutheran trailed, 8-0, after three innings but rallied to win the nonleague game on a two-run double by Laura Lopez.
VOLLEYBALL
Crespi d. Simi Valley, 15-6, 15-3, 15-10--Ken Lynch had 10 kills for Crespi (4-2) in the nonleague match. Chris McGee had eight kills and Mike Palumbo had seven service aces for Crespi.
Harvard d. Arcadia, 15-4, 9-15, 15-10, 15-11--Mark Shoptaw had 12 kills to lead Harvard (4-0) to a win over the defending Southern Section 3-A Division champion.
Granada Hills d. Narbonne, 15-6, 15-1, 15-0--Senior outside hitter Danny Govenar had 12 kills and five service aces to lead the Highlanders (3-0) in a nonleague match at Granada Hills.
Van Nuys d. Verdugo Hills, 10-15, 15-7, 15-8, 15-13--Sophea Kim had 17 kills and Mark Mariaf had 10 to lead Van Nuys in a nonleague match at Verdugo Hills.
Reseda d. Canoga Park, 15-4, 15-7, 15-3--Coley Kyman had 15 kills to lead Reseda in a nonleague match. Scott Kent had 12 kills and Jeff Coles had nine for Reseda.
North Hollywood d. Notre Dame, 16-14, 15-13, 16-14--Alex Rudinger had eight kills to lead the Huskies (4-1) in a nonleague match at North Hollywood.
Campbell Hall d. Alemany, 15-7, 15-8, 6-15, 16-14--Will Fvehling had 17 kills and Don White had 15 for Campbell Hall (5-0).
BOYS’ TENNIS
Westlake 17, Royal 1--David Lieu, Kane Lai and Buddy Turl each swept three singles matches for Westlake (1-1, 1-0) in a Marmonte League match at Royal.
GOLF
Kennedy 234, Cleveland 254--Mark Ridel shot a three-over-par 39 at Knollwood Golf Course to lead Kennedy (2-2).
Chaminade 225, Canyon 234--Tim Powers shot an even-par 36 at Encino Golf Course to lead Chaminade (1-2) to a nonleague win.
