Meyer Schatzberg, 90, founder of the After Five Inc. evening wear companies. Schatzberg moved to the United States from Austria in 1903 and began working as a dress contractor on 7th Avenue in New York City. At age 24 he established his own company and became an immediate success, selling dresses for $1.87 wholesale, much less than his competitors. At about the same time he began mass producing the evening clothes for which he became famous. Today the After Five collection is sold in more than 1,000 stores in 10 countries. At his retirement home in Florida on Friday.
