A Playa del Rey nursing home was ordered to pay $50,000 in penalties Friday for violations of state law regulating patient care, the Los Angeles city attorney’s office said.
In a Superior Court injunction, Tustin-based Care Enterprises West, which does business as the Care West Playa del Rey Nursing Center, was also ordered to take specific steps to avoid future violations.
The injunction covers Lee Bangerter, a board member of Care Enterprises West, and Dee Bangerter, chief executive officer of the chain.
Attorneys for Care Enterprises also pleaded no contest Friday to three criminal counts stemming from violations of a state Health and Safety Code section that regulates long-term health-care facilities.
Most of the violations involved the failure to provide prescribed medication and treatment to patients, the city attorney’s office said.
