Political Ambition, racing for the first time in eight months, finished 1 1/4 lengths in front of The Medic to win the $60,000 feature race at Santa Anita Friday.
Political Ambition had not competed since suffering a broken sesamoid in a workout at Del Mar last August.
Ridden by Eddie Delahoussaye, Political Ambition covered one mile in 1:35 3/5.
Political Ambition, sent off as the favorite of the crowd of 36,558, paid $5.40, $3.20 and $2.60.
