The seventh annual Children’s Miracle Network Telethon raised a record $77 million for children’s hospitals around the world, telethon officials said. The 21-hour telethon was broadcast in the Soviet Union and China, and organizers said it reached a worldwide audience of 450 million television households. About 180 TV stations participated in the telethon. The Children’s Miracle Network claims to have raised more than $170 million for children’s hospitals since its founding in 1983.
