Murder in El Salvador

Goodwin echoed the feelings of thousands of us. We were all shocked and horrified by the Chinese government’s assault against the demonstrators.
Like Goodwin, I am shocked and horrified that Congress is preparing to help finance a similar assault on the people of El Salvador. I agree that we must stop sending arms to China. Congress and the President must also stop sending arms and aid to El Salvador. As Goodwin says, “To vote for continued aid to El Salvador is to vote for murder and torture, to vote for increasing the possessions of the wealthy at the expense of the impoverished peasants.”
Such a vote makes our call for democracy and human rights sheer hypocrisy.
