There’s Barely Room for Sports in Sports Sections These Days

Think about it. You are a Hamilton County (Ohio) common pleas judge. You live and work in an area where the Cincinnati Reds are a source of tremendous public pride and where the Reds manager, Pete Rose, is regarded with much respect and reverence by millions of baseball fans.
Should your decision favor the plaintiff, the case will most probably begin a lengthy journey through the courts, ultimately to be decided by a judge other than yourself, or possibly by a jury. Usually years later.
Rule for the defendant and you will become a major player in what could be an abrupt and shameful end to this (hero) person’s illustrious baseball career.
Now tell me . . . what do you think your decision would be?
