A robber who displayed a gun under his jacket escaped with an undetermined amount of cash Monday from a local savings and loan, police said.
The bandit walked into the Hawthorne Savings & Loan branch in the 3500 block of Katella Avenue about 11:50 a.m. and handed a teller a note demanding money, Los Alamitos Police dispatcher Bill Coleman said.
After taking the money, the man fled through the bank’s south door, Coleman added. The bandit was described as white, in his 30s, about 5-foot-8 or 5-foot-10, with curly brown hair and wearing a dark suit.
