MANILA, Philippines — A 25-year-old man tied the knot and then found himself in handcuffs moments after he recited his vows when police arrested him for murder.
The Philippines Journal reported that five policemen went to the town of Caoayan, 200 miles north of Manila on July 16, in search of Amante Belen, a former security guard sought in the April slaying of a factory engineer.
When police arrived, they learned that Belen was getting married that day, the paper said. The police went to the local church and found the ceremony in progress.
Police waited until the service was over. After the priest pronounced the couple husband and wife, police Sgt. Reynaldo Enrico walked down the aisle and handcuffed the groom, the paper said.
