The owner of a janitorial service was gunned down in the driveway of his Van Nuys home and Los Angeles police were searching today for one of the victim’s employees, authorities said.
Robert D. Norris, 49, was shot to death about 10 p.m. Thursday after he walked out of his garage and spoke briefly to a man in a car that stopped in front of his home in the 7100 block of McLennan Avenue, detective Jim Vojtecky said.
Norris was hit once in the chest by a gunshot and died on the driveway. The car, a 1971 Ford station wagon, sped away. Descriptions of the car and suspect provided by neighbors led police to begin looking for an employee of Norris’ firm, which cleans such businesses as office buildings, restaurants and bars.
Vojtecky said no motive for the shooting was known.
