Fire Causes $100,000 Damage to Apartments

Afire started by sparks from a chimney caused $100,000 in damage to a Winnetka apartment building Thursday, the Los Angeles City Fire Department reported.
No injuries were reported in the fire that started at 2:20 p.m. in the two-story building in the 20400 block of Saticoy Street, Fire Department spokesman Jim Williamson said.
Three apartment units were damaged by the fire, which was extinguished in 26 minutes, he said. The blaze began when sparks landed on the building’s roof, he said.
