Engineers Replacing Shuttle Booster Seals

KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, Fla. — Rocket engineers worked to replace a rubber seal in the space shuttle Atlantis’ right solid-fuel booster Thursday because of a defect found in one of the rockets used by the shuttle Columbia in August, officials said.
Another such seal will be replaced in the shuttle’s left booster Saturday, but Atlantis remains on schedule for launch Oct. 12.
