Two Israeli soldiers and a Jordanian soldier were wounded in predawn cross-border shooting, military officials said. The incident occurred near Kibbutz Ashdot Yaacov, south of the Sea of Galilee, but details were sketchy. An Israeli army spokeswoman said a patrol of the Israeli Defense Forces came under fire from across the Jordan border and that two soldiers were slightly wounded. Israel Radio said the shots were apparently fired by a Jordanian soldier who ambushed the Israeli patrol. In Amman, the official news agency Petra quoted a military spokesman as saying that a Jordanian border patrol soldier detected “strange movement” along the Jordan River and opened fire. An Israeli border patrol fired back, wounding a Jordanian soldier, the news agency reported.
