Santa Monica : Homeless Center Gets Grant

Step Up On 2nd, a service center in Santa Monica for the homeless and the mentally ill, has been awarded a $263,412 grant from the U.S. Department of Labor.
The grant will be used for the group’s Project Change, which offers job training and other educational and social services for homeless adults with psychiatric problems.
Project officials estimate that the grant will enable them to provide services to 700 homeless people, and to place 60 in jobs.
Step Up On 2nd is one of 21 public and private groups nationwide sharing in $6.8 million in Department of Labor grants for employment and training projects for the homeless.
