An Anaheim man was killed and one of his assailants wounded early Monday when a gun battle erupted in a Fullerton bar, police said.
Two men entered the La Fogata Bar, 405 E. Commonwealth Ave., shortly after midnight and opened fire with pistols on Ramiro Pineda Maldanado, 23, who was sitting at the rear of the bar, Police Sgt. Joe Klein said. One of the men entered through the front door and another through the rear.
Despite being fatally wounded in the fusillade, Maldanado managed to draw his own weapon and shoot back, wounding one of his attackers.
Police said suspected assailant Ysidro Borja was taken to UCI Medical Center with several gunshot wounds in his legs. Detectives said they expect to book him on suspicion of murder.
Besides recovering two guns at the scene, detectives also found later in the day what they believe was the getaway car. They were seeking Pedro Baltazar Olivo, 19, of Anaheim as the other suspect in the case.
