COLLEGE ROUNDUP : CSUN Advances to Semifinals of Volleyball Event

The Cal State Northridge women’s volleyball team advanced to the semifinals of the Air Force Academy’s Premier Tournament in Colorado Springs by defeating Cal Poly Pomona and Cal State Bakersfield on Saturday.
The Lady Matadors, ranked seventh in the nation in the latest National Collegiate Athletic Assn. Division II poll, beat Pomona, 15-6, 15-3, 15-7, then downed Bakersfield in the quarterfinals, 15-5, 9-15, 15-11, 15-3.
Northridge (22-9 overall) has won 10 straight matches and will meet UC Riverside today. Cal State Sacramento will meet West Texas State in the other semifinal match.
Cross-Country
Cal Lutheran’s men’s and women’s cross-country teams both placed fourth in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics District III championships in La Mirada.
In the men’s competition, Pt. Loma Nazarene finished first with 38 points, followed by Fresno Pacific (67), Westmont (80) and Cal Lutheran (88).
Westmont finished first in the women’s competition with 53 points, followed by Pt. Loma Nazarane (59), Azusa Pacific (65) and Cal Lutheran (110).
