Two Orange County arts groups and one folk artist have been recommended for 1989-90 California Arts Council grants. Arpana Dance Company and Multicultural Women Writers were recommended for Multi-Cultural Entry Program grants. Both Irvine-based groups would receive $2,000 for each of three years. In addition, Santa Ana artist Zenovia L. Wrzesniewski, a master of Ukrainian pysanky , or egg painting, was recommended for a Traditional Folk Arts Program Master-Apprentice Award of $2,500 to teach her skill to an apprentice. Also, the Pacific Chorale and Opera Pacific were listed as “alternates” for challenge grants--meaning they qualified for awards, but the council has no money to fund alternates and it is “highly unlikely” they will receive the grants, a CAC spokesman said. The council is slated to vote on these recommendations Tuesday at a regular meeting in Loma Linda.
