THE HAGUE — Premier Ruud Lubbers completed his third coalition government Monday, with the appointment of a Christian Democrat as traffic and waterways minister, Dutch Television reported.
Hanja Maij-Weggen, a member of the European Parliament, is the third woman in Lubbers’ center-left Cabinet, which has more female ministers than any previous Dutch government.
Lubbers’ Christian Democrats and the Labor Party have seven seats each in the government, which is expected to be sworn in today.
