California IN BRIEF : SACRAMENTO : Ex-Supervisor Gets 2 1/2 Years in Pot Case

A former El Dorado County supervisor was sentenced to 2 1/2 years in federal prison for growing marijuana in a secret garden on his fruit ranch. U.S. District Judge Edward Garcia decreed what he said was the “appropriate punishment” of Michael Visman as the former official stood silently before the bench in Sacramento. Visman, 41, was arrested in October, 1988, when drug agents raided his 37-acre Sierra foothills ranch and found 60 large marijuana plants growing in a berry patch.
