Praise for ‘The Eighties’

After hearing audiences cheer, it was a shattering experience for all involved in the play “The Eighties” to see a review as devastating as Sylvie Drake’s Nov. 1 article. It was even a worse nightmare when the Nov. 6 Morning Report erroneously said that the Westwood Playhouse production “was soundly blasted by critics.”
Most of the reviews were favorable, including the Daily News, which gave “The Eighties” its highest rating, calling it “a literary miracle” with a “faultless cast.”
If we cannot look to The Times for approval, at least we can hope for fairness.
