GARDEN GROVE — Santiago High School took advantage of two Los Amigos turnovers to score a Garden Grove League 17-13 victory Friday at Garden Grove High School.
The Cavaliers (4-6 overall, 3-4 league) took a 14-0 halftime lead on two second-quarter touchdowns, each of which was set up by a Lobo turnover. Los Amigos finished 2-8, 1-6. Neither team is going to the CIF playoffs.
Santiago defensive back Clyde Perezcastaneda set up the first Cavalier score with the first of his two interceptions. Kevin Gillan ran 21 yards to the Lobo 15, and a face mask penalty moved the ball to the seven. Quarterback Chad Carter scored on a one-foot keeper with 8:16 left in the half.
A Lobo fumble at the Los Amigos 40-yard line set up Carter’s 39-yard scoring pass to Steve Garza in the second quarter.
