FOOTBALL ROUNDUP : Holtville Beats Imperial, Ends Season Perfect

Holtville finished the regular season undefeated with a 34-13 victory over visiting Imperial Friday night. For the second consecutive year Holtville (10-0, 5-0) will make a 1-A playoff appearance. Holtville was defeated in the playoffs last year by Marian, which finished this season, 1-9, 2-4 and will move to 2-A next season.
The Vikings, led by quarterback Alex Wells, will play Imperial (7-3, 4-1) in the playoffs. Wells is averaging 145 yards per game and was ninth in the county in passing this week.
Mountain Empire 16, Army-Navy 6--Fullback Todd Salmons and a strong defense carried host Mountain Empire. Salmons ran 12 times for 99 yards and a touchdown, and the Mountain Empire defense recovered six fumbles. Defensive tackle Brian Gary recovered two fumbles.
Marian 20, Calipatria 14--Quarterback Bobby Applegate was 12 for 18 for 161 yards and two touchdowns for Marian (1-9, 2-4). Jeff Hays caught six passes for 60 yards and one touchdown for Marian. Calipatria finished the season 4-6, 1-3.
