Parking Tickets

I read with amusement the (Nov. 3) article about how great the Newport Beach Police Department is in giving parking tickets. This is a very unsophisticated behavior on the part of the city. Drivers entering these cities pay the price for poor planning by the city.
I recommend that the money to pay the salaries of these tough officers who write traffic tickets be put in a special fund to pay for improving parking. The officers can then be assigned to more important tasks, like protecting the public.
I gave up an office in the Lido building because of so many complaints about parking in Newport Beach.
Running around giving tickets for a minor violation is foolish and unnecessary. Just provide adequate parking!
