Malibu Cityhood Hearing Decried
The reporting on the Malibu cityhood hearing before the Board of Supervisors on Oct. 19 in Sunday’s Westside Section was very good except for one major item. The blunt, blatant, blackmail statement of Supervisor (Deane) Dana to hold Malibu’s right to vote hostage to a sewer system. Dana stated for all to hear that if Malibu organizations would stay away from the November Coastal Commission sewer hearing, to stop opposing the County’s sewer plan, to let the plan proceed, only then would he agree to a cityhood vote. This is democracy? This is the power we give our supervisors.
