Penn State will play in the Holiday Bowl Dec. 29 against the Western Athletic Conference champion, sources familiar with the bowl pairings said. West Virginia will play in the Gator Bowl in Jacksonville, Fla., Dec. 30, with Clemson as the Mountaineers’ probable opponent, the Times-West Virginian of Fairmont, West Va., reported. Officials of the Copper Bowl have decided to invite Arizona to play in the bowl’s Dec. 31 inaugural game. The winner of the Washington State-Washington game Saturday is expected to be invited to the Freedom Bowl, Washington Athletic Director Mike Lude said.
Bowl bids cannot be extended until Nov. 25.
