It has been quite an October in Northern California. The human casualties and severe property damage caused by the devastating Oct. 17 earthquake, which has resulted in billions of dollars in financial losses, made it a “Red October.” And the Oakland A’s power hitting in the World Series resembled “The Missiles of October.” Amazingly enough, the Russians weren’t even involved.
