Teresa Poy and Debbie Ball, junior transfers from Cal State Northridge, will be competing for Cal State L. A. in the National Collegiate Athletic Assn. Division II cross-country championships on Saturday in Marshalls Creek, Pa.
Poy ran for Northridge in the 1986 and ’87 national meets, placing 34th as a freshman. Ball, from Newbury Park High, competed for Northridge her freshman year in ’85 and sat out a season before transferring to Moorpark College in ’87. That year she finished 31st in the state meet.
Poy and Ball, CSLA’s Nos. 2 and 4 runners, placed 16th and 27th in the West regional meet hosted by Humboldt State on Nov.4 as the Golden Eagles held off Northridge for second, 85-88. Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, the seven-time defending champion, won the meet with 20 points.
