61 Arrested in Pacoima Prostitution Sting

Sixty-one men were arrested during a weekend sweep for allegedly soliciting prostitutes in Pacoima, Los Angeles police reported Sunday.

The men were taken into custody after approaching three female officers posing as prostitutes on San Fernando Road between Van Nuys Boulevard and Osborne Street from noon to midnight Saturday, said Sgt. Ken Dionne.

The men were either jailed at the Los Angeles Police Department’s Foothill Division or cited and released pending a court appearance, Dionne said. He said the sweep was launched after vice officers noticed an increase in prostitution in the area. Forty prostitutes have been arrested on San Fernando Road in the past three weeks, police said.
