GALVESTON, Tex. — An explosion on an oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico Thursday injured 12 workers, one seriously, authorities said.
“Everything’s secure, there’s no blowout, there’s no pollution, anything like that,” said Marshall Ballard, president of Penrod Drilling Co.
The workers were taken by helicopter to John Sealy Hospital in Galveston. Seven workers were treated and released and four were listed in fair condition. One was listed in serious condition.
