Who Should Provide for a Child’s Care?
Martin Zimmerman (First Person, Dec. 25) asks, “who will care for the children?” I think Zimmerman should consider the possibility that he and his wife should care for their child. If he and his wife can find someone who can and will care for the child, that will be fine. But why does he think the federal, state and local governments and the public in general are responsible for the care of their child?
Obviously raising a child takes a lot of time-consuming care and attention. That means that having one is going to have a great impact on one’s life style. This philosophy that the general public should provide the means for new parents to continue their life without sacrifice is not one on which to start a family.
