MANILA — A former Philippine governor and henchman of the late President Ferdinand E. Marcos was sentenced Thursday to life imprisonment for killing three political campaigners for President Corazon Aquino in 1986.
Orlando Dulay, 62, one of the better-known political warlords during the Marcos era, was found guilty by the suburban Quezon City regional trial court of kidnaping and murdering Francisco Laurella, Fernando Pastor and his son, Fernando Pastor Jr., on the eve of the Feb. 7, 1986, presidential election.
Court records show that the three were kidnaped in the town of Diffun in the northern province of Quirino, where Dulay was governor.
