THE SIDELINES : Hearing Set for Falcons’ Coach

ATLANTA — A Feb. 12 hearing has been scheduled for Jim Hanifan, interim coach of the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons, who was arrested on charges of driving under the influence and simple battery.
Hanifan was admitted to a hospital for treatment of head injuries Thursday after his arrest on the charges. Police internal affairs investigators said they planned to review the arrest to determine if excessive force was used.
Grady Memorial Hospital night administrator William Breyer said Hanifan, who was taken to the hospital’s detention center by police after the arrest, was listed in satisfactory condition late Thursday.
Falcons spokesman Charlie Taylor said team officials had not heard from Hanifan or the police.
