‘Thousand Lights’

President Bush’s “thousand points of light” speech was largely perceived by the media (including Conrad) as corny and idealistic. However, it appears that now indeed the lights are coming on again all over the world. The fall of the Berlin Wall has turned on at least that many.
It would seem that his speech was more prophetic than rhetoric.
