With no discussion, the San Diego City Council gave final approval to the hiring of seven new council staff members at a cost of $118,800 for the remainder of the year.
The mid-year budget change will give two new staff members to Councilwoman Linda Bernhardt and one each to Deputy Mayor Abbe Wolfsheimer and council members John Hartley, Wes Pratt, Bruce Henderson and Bob Filner.
Those six provided the margin of victory in the 6-2 council vote. Mayor Maureen O’Connor and Councilman Ron Roberts dissented; Councilwoman Judy McCarty was absent.
