Permits Required for Some Peep Arcades

GARDEN GROVE — Peep show arcades near residential areas will have to get permits to operate in the late night and early morning, under an ordinance approved this week by the City Council.
The council voted unanimously to require any arcade near homes to be closed between 10 p.m. and 8:30 a.m. unless it has a city-issued permit.
Under the ordinance, the city manager could revoke such a permit if such problems as lewd conduct create a nuisance for the neighborhood.
The ordinance also makes lewd conduct a violation of the Garden Grove Municipal Code and holds the peep show management responsible for acts in the arcades, which typically use coin-operated video machines to show X-rated films.
